I’m sitting at home in my fluffy pink flannel bathrobe, listening to Serial, munching on one of these cupcakes… it’s a Saturday night… but I am loving it. I think this, my friends, is what is known as getting old. Don’t worry, I have some wine too.
So… anyone else feeling like the cold weather is bringing on some serious baking frenzies? Just me? Sure…

When I first started baking, with no knowledge of the difference between baking soda and baking powder back in 2012, my mum gave me the hummingbird bakery book as a gift. It’s got a big place in my heart. I’ve heard people baking experts say bad stuff about it, like “their cakes are so dry” … When I hear that, all I hear is envy surrounded by a mass of green envy waves bouncing out of their aurors. They use more milk than I’m used to, but why the hell not. These banana and chocolate cupcakes are dynamite. I made so many I had to give some to all my neighbours and my flatmates and invite friends over.
SO MOIST – Mark I apologise, but they just are! It’s like eating a fluffy banana with chocolate made by a unicorn’s mother in law.
Not an exaggeration.
Here is the recipe. And I doubled the cocoa in the frosting, because as Sugar Thumb quite clearly demonstrates I’m a chocolate freak.
